The legal process of changing your name is nightmare. At least it was to me because I was embarking upon it while working as a public school teacher of students with special needs which is an extremely paperwork heavy career. Maybe it won’t be as daunting for you! But it is a shit ton of paperwork and follow-up requirements and I found the process to be so unbearable that I got about 75% of the way through it twice before telling myself I just didn’t have the bandwidth to make my chosen name legal.
